“Children more than ever, need opportunities to be in their bodies in the world. It’s this engagement between limbs of the body and bones of the earth where true balance and centeredness emerge.”

What Is Kids Yoga?

Kids Yoga offers children a gentle, playful way to connect with their bodies, feelings and breath.
Physically, yoga can support co-ordination, balance, strength, flexibility, posture and body awareness. Although yoga is non-competitive, the skills children learn can also support confidence and movement in other activities, including sports and everyday play.
Yoga and mindfulness can also support emotional wellbeing. During sessions, children are introduced to breathing exercises, mindful movement and self-regulation techniques that may help them recognise their feelings, settle their nervous system and build self-awareness. The mindful element of each session encourages calm, kindness, gratitude and positive choices that children can carry into school, home and everyday life.
What Will My First Session Look Like?
The first session begins with a free initial consultation for you and your child. This gives us time to talk through your child’s needs, answer any questions and make sure everyone feels comfortable. We may ask for some basic information, such as your child’s age, what they are finding difficult and whether there are any additional needs, either identified or suspected.
During this initial meeting, we can also show you some of the activities that may be included in a session, such as the use of yoga mats, props, breathing exercises, mindful movement and calming background music. The aim is to help your child feel safe, prepared and welcomed before sessions begin.

What Do I Need To Know As The Parent/Guardian?
Before your child starts sessions, parents and guardians will be asked to complete an emergency contact form so that we have the information needed to keep your child safe and supported. At present, Kids Yoga sessions are offered by home visit. We ask that at least one named parent or guardian remains in the building during the session so that safeguarding procedures are upheld and your child feels secure.
